The Magic of GardeningAfter School · Coming Spring 2027

Coming Spring 2027
Tuesdays, Grades 1–3  ·  Thursdays, Grades 4–6
3:00–5:00 PM  ·  Pickup from local schools available

Created and led by Victoria Simmons — gardener, floral designer, arts & crafts educator, and mother — The Magic of Gardening gives children space to learn, create, move, and connect with nature in a nurturing environment. Each afternoon begins with a soft landing: breathwork, gentle movement, and time to transition from the school day. Children then move into hands-on work exploring gardening, horticulture, environmental science, floral design, and nature-inspired art.

Children explore seed germination and plant life cycles, sowing and growing, flora and fauna, healthy garden ecosystems, native NYC plant identification, reiki, emotional regulation, upcycling and caring for the Earth, seasonal projects, and nature-inspired arts & crafts. The program uses a compassionate approach to behavioral guidance, recognizing that children learn best when they feel safe, respected, engaged, and connected.

A typical afternoon: 3:00 school pickup & arrival · 3:20 snack & settling in · 3:40 breathwork & movement · 4:00 gardening lesson · 4:30 hands-on project · 4:55 cleanup & reflection.
