About Us
House of Beats Arts & Wellness Center is a community space in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, where movement and creativity share the same floor.
Kamaal and Shirin co-founded House of Beats in Bed-Stuy to bring martial arts, dance, and creative arts under one roof. Movement and creativity both help people grow stronger and carry less — that's what this space is built around.
Today, House of Beats offers martial arts and dance classes, creative arts workshops, wellness programming, and community events — plus private event space for rent. For a neighborhood that deserves both real skill and real care.
Sliding-scale pricing so the neighborhood can actually use the space we built for them.
Programming built around Bed-Stuy, by people who live and work here.
Every class is led by someone who has mastered what they teach.
The Founders
Kamaal Davis is the Founder of House of Beats and The Beatbox Lifestyle. A lifelong martial artist, instructor, and community leader, he is passionate about using movement, discipline, and mentorship to empower individuals of all ages. His approach blends traditional martial arts principles with functional fitness and practical self-defense, making his classes accessible to people at every level. Beyond instruction, Kamaal is dedicated to building community — creating inclusive spaces where fitness, wellness, creativity, and culture come together to inspire growth and meaningful connection.
Shirin is a visual artist whose work explores duality and abstraction. She studied at the Art Institute in Azerbaijan and Marymount University, and has worked at the Corcoran Gallery of Art and a SoHo gallery. A residency in Italy and her grandfather's legacy in Azerbaijani art have shaped her studio practice. She has taught art to orphaned children and children with special needs, and has produced exhibitions and cultural programming in New York City for over nine years. At House of Beats, she leads creative arts programming and serves as creative director.
