Our Story
Kamaal and Shirin co-founded House of Beats in Bed-Stuy to bring martial arts, dance, and creative arts under one roof. Kamaal, a martial artist and professional dancer, and Shirin, a visual artist whose practice draws on her own connection to art's power to process and heal, built the space around what they each know firsthand: movement and creativity both help people grow stronger and carry less. Today, House of Beats offers martial arts and dance classes, creative arts workshops, wellness programming, and community events — plus private event space for rent. It's a space built on real skill and real care, for a neighborhood that deserves both.
